Ogun State Government Has Alerted Residents Of The State About The Outbreak Of Cholera Across The State, As The Communicable Disease Causes Severe Watery Diarrhea, Which Can Lead To Dehydration And Even Death If Untreated.
The Call, Which Was Made By The State Social Mobilization And Technical Committee (S-Somtec) During A Periodic Meeting Organized By Unicef In Collaboration With The Ministry Of Information And Strategy, Is To Enlighten The Public That Cholera, Which Is Known To Occur During Raining Season Is Associated With Poor Environment And Personal Hygiene.
The Statement Further Ordered Public And Private Schools, Markets, Parks And Garages, Petrol Stations And Mechanic Villages Across The State To Ensure That They Have Toilet Facilities And Running Water For Proper Hygiene And Sanitation, While Advising The Citizens To Report All Cases Of Stooling With Or Without Vomiting To The Nearest Government Health Facility.
