A Non-Governmental Organisation, Community Development Initiatives(CDI) Has Organised A Media Engagement For Journalists To Sensitize Media Professionals On Sexual And Gender Based Violence(SGBV) Issues, As Well As Effective Reporting Strategies.
The Executive Director Of CDI, Felix Igbodipe, Who Spoke To Newsmen At The Event Held In Golden Hive Hotel, Conference Room, Oyins Resort, Ijebu-Ode Area Of Ogun State, Disclosed That The Programme Tagged “Safe Approach To Life, Non Violence And Gender Equality’, Was Supported By Amplify Change, Is As Part Of The Objectives To Foster Collaboration Between Media, Civil Society And Policy Makers, With Focus On Understanding Sexual Reproductive Health Rights And Safe Abortion.
Igbodipe Also Stated That Cdi Is Taking Bold Steps To Promote Accurate Reporting On Sexual And Reproductive Health Rights (Srhr) And Safe Abortion.
According To Him, The Incident Of Cases Of Sexual And Gender-Based Violence In The State According To What Has Been Reported In Our Office And Others That Have Been Transferred To Court Looks Like The Sexual And Gender-Based Violence Is Not Coming To An End, Which Is Affecting The Public.
He Also Noted That The Majority Of Females Do Not Have The Right To Reproductive Health Which Informs Why Community Development Initiatives Need To Go Into The Project.
