Institute Lauds Ogun Ministry On Policy Reforms, Regulatory Frameworks

Ogun State Ministry Of Physical Planning And Urban Development Has Been Commended For Implementing Laudable Policy Reforms And Regulatory Frameworks, Which Have Enhanced Service Delivery To The Populace And Improved Physical Development Of The State.

National President Of The Nigerian Institute Of Town Planners (Nitp), Tpl. Nathaniel Atebije, Gave The Commendation When He Led The National Executive Of The Institute On A Courtesy Visit To The Ministry, As Part Of Activities Marking Its Mandatory Continuing Professional Development Programme (Mcpdp) For 2024, Being Hosted By Ogun State.

Tpl. Atebije Stated That Initiatives Such As The Decentralisation Of Physical Planning Services, Leading To Creation Of More Zonal Town Planning Offices, Establishment Of Three Implementation Authorities, And Leveraging Public-Private Partnerships (Ppp) Through A Memorandum Of Understanding With Building Collapse Prevention Guild (Bcpg), Were Measures That Showed The Ministry’s Commitment To Fostering Sustainable Urban Development And Improving The Living Condition Of Residents.

Speaking, Commissioner In The Ministry, Tpl. Olatunji Odunlami, While Appreciating The Institute For The Award Of The Honorary Fellowship Of The Institute To The Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, In 2022, Reiterated The Agency’s Commitment To Providing Quality Town Planning Services And Managing Development Across The State.

Tpl. Odunlami Further Stated That Training And Retraining Of Officers Were Prioritised By The Present Administration, Saying The Ministry Is Open To Partnerships With Relevant Stakeholders Towards Achieving The ‘Building Our Future Together’ Agenda.

“We Are Working Hard To Reduce Bottlenecks In Our Processes To The Barest Minimum. For Instance, To Improve Ease Of Doing Business, We Offer Permit-In-Principle That Allows Investors To Conclude Whatever Business And Financial Negotiations Needed To Commence Their Investments, Before Their Permits Are Ready,” Odunlami Noted.

Also Speaking, Permanent Secretary In The Ministry, Engr. Sakirudeen Salaam, Thanked The Institute For The Commendation, Promising That The Ministry And Its Agencies Would Continue To Strive To Provide Sustainable And Quality Planning Services.
